LORI'S LINK Hey Bubba

 Week One

Ok, you said you were excited to see this. Is it all you expected? More!!! That’s good. Hahaha… Well I finally have all those E-Mail addresses figured out. Send it to my school address. I won't put it here because than I would probably have all kinds of girls E-Mailing me asking for their own web page too. :- ½ Ç 3 ß Can you see the hand, and the 8-ball??? Probably not….

The first two week were pretty boring. We got health insurance, a bank account, and a visa one day. The visa was 100DM and the health insurance is 94 DM a month. I think the rent is about 370 DM or something close to that. I've been sitting at this computer for many hours a day trying to keep busy. Usually I play MahJong for a few hours than SimCity2000.

I had to buy a blanket, pillow, and a sheet. The sheet and blanket are both a really ugly shade of brown. The blanket has a pretty picture of a dog and cat too. The room had a lot of echo so I bought a small piece of carpet at one of the hardware stores close to here. Yesterday I bought some spiral notebooks at the school because they are much cheaper there. It's supposed to be non-profit, quite a difference than MSOE. It looks like I'll be keeping busy with school. There's more classes and labs than I originally thought. I have to give a short presentation on MOSFET devices. I'm not too sure what that is but I should find out soon. There are 8 Americans and 8 Germans in our classes. We have all the same classes together. This first week is going to be easy because there will be no labs and Wednesday and Thursday classes are canceled. Good thing my phone is being hooked up on that Wednesday of no classes. We'll be able to Instant Message than. I'll send you the phone number tomorrow. I hope the guy comes right at 1:00 to turn it on. The school also has free internet access.

I e-mailed four people today, You, Jay, Scott, and my Uncle. My Uncle sent me something to info66 and I finally got it. Their server was down for a couple weeks I guess. I was in the computer lab during lunch time and when I got there, it was pretty empty. Then it got packed for about half an hour. Then everyone left again.

I'm starting to get sick of the CD's I brought with. I wish I would have brought about a hundred. Another thing you can bring. I checked ticket prices and they were between 750 and 1000 bucks. I bet my dad can find them for cheaper. He's always good at that. When will you find out the dates? Hmmmm??? When you find out, I'll call him and see what he can find. If it's a lot cheaper, you could fly from Chicago to Frankfurt and I could pick you up. Depends on the price difference and the cost of the train ride. Probably better to fly into Hamburg.

The washing machines here are about really small and you can only fit about half a regular size load in. They are really slow too. The dryers are just as bad. I think my clothes were in for two hours and when it was done, they were still damp. It's about 4 DM to wash and about 1 DM to dry. That’s about 10 DM a week. I think I'll be air drying most things. I have socks and drawers hanging over the radiator. I could probably fold them and put them in the closet considering they have been dry for a few days now. Ah, they look good there and they are nice and warm when I put them on.

That’s about it for this sitting otherwise I will start babbling about everything(not that I already didn't) and that would bore me.

 Week Eight

Ok, I'm finally adding more to this page. Maybe It will start growing on its own if I just feed it a little. Wow, I was just reading above and it has been a long time since I added anything. And wow it's boring too. Anyways... Well, you got your tickets and my Dave Matthews shirts. Soon as you get the Eurorail passes, you'll almost be set. Only thing left will be to buy me something real nice and you will have everything. I've been here for 57 days now, and away from Milwaukee for 58 days. I've met a lot of Germans. It's nice to just walk around and actually know people. I told you about my little excursion to Hamburg so I won't go into it again. That's the only place I've been so far. One of the guys has a sister that is going to school in Kiel and I might go with him sometime when he goes there. He said it's a fun place. I've been slowly starting to speak German but not that much. I had a little argument with my German teacher the other day. She got pissed off that I came to class late and I just got up and walked out, I wasn't in to mood to deal with her. Than for the second German class we got into a discussion on personal philosophy (SP?) and she said something that I thought was totally unbelievable and I told her that was pretty nutso thinking in my book. She said that if a person gets sick with a cold or illness it is their own fault and that if they were a better person they would not have gotten sick. I think that's pretty sick in her mind. Oh well. We, as in the class, went to her house that day for a little get together. Than a few of us went out to this really neat place for a few drinks. This place is so cool. We have to go there while you are here. You can sit in the basement that was built in 1200-something. Has a great atmosphere.

I'm finally getting back into the swing of things with school. The first few weeks I just couldn't get into it. Now we are in it full speed and I'm understanding and interested in what we are doing. I think the school here is better than at MSOE. The labs are really neat. We do things like modulating signals in AM and FM and some other modulation methods. AM and FM as in AM and FM radio. Interesting stuff huh? It's pretty much all about electronic communications, like voice and data transmission. Now I'll probably talk about school for about 20 pages....HAHAHA.... We are learning about control systems things like how to design things like Cruise Controls and any system that is used to control just about anything. Neato huh??? Maybe not. I have a good feeling that the eight of us who came here will be the most sought after by companies. The president of MSOE was here a week or two ago and we met with him. He said that this is probably one of the best resume stuffers and that companies will jump at the chance to hire any of us. We also went to the city hall and saw him receive an honorary Doctorate from the school here. Than we went into another room and had incredible food and champagne. We were thinking about how we could be getting ready for final exams at MSOE or be in this 500 year old building having champagne and H'ordurves(SP?) with Dr. Viets. Hmmmmm. tough one there.

I got an e-mail message from one of the guys that I know from Village Pub the other day. Jay knows him too and he gave him my e-mail. I don't think you ever met him. He is going to UWM for his Electrical Engineering Degree too. I also got the e-mail address of one of the guys I was stationed with in Utah. And he finally responded, I guess he was TDY. He said I can stay with him if I go to England. I think the base is near London. I can't wait to go back to Paris. Oh, I was downtown tonight and you should see the Christmas Market. Its like nothing you will see in the States. Its all outside and there is lots of food and things to buy. I found what you'll be getting from me. I'd tell you what it was but than you would probably get mad…..Hahaha…. There were lots of nice things. Wow,,,,,,,I sure have added a lot, I better stop before I fill the whole internet full of my adventures :P Until another 7 months…... You can write to yourself when you get here and than read what you wrote when you get home J

Here is my school schedule.
