School at the Fachhochschule in Lübeck, Germany.

This will be the official page for updates to my experiences at the Fachhochschule here in Lübeck, Germany.
(I'm not sure if there will be any unofficial pages so I added the part about this being the official page)

I bet I should get an Internet connection so I can actually post this page. Today is the 4th of October 1998. Hopefully it won't take too long.

School Schedule The schedule for the first semester.

Here we go...

I went to the Telekom office today and signed up for phone service and Internet service. It was interesting trying to get a phone line when the girl at the counter didn't speak English but we managed to figure it out. At least I hope we did. I bet the person living two houses down will be suprised to find out he's getting a new phone line!!! And I'll probably be more suprised to get the bill! That shouldn't happen. I just hope that the Internet service provided by them is alright. I don't even know the phone number yet. Tomorrow I get an Internet and e-mail account from the school so I might actually be able to post this page, and the ones that lead you to this one. I think I'll have to get an account on Geocities or some other place like that to get this on the web.

Today I got my e-mail and Internet account at the school. The Internet was extremely slow. Maybe they have a 56k modem trying to service all the computers on the campus, but probably not. I tried to get my e-mail from info66.com but there was no response from the server. Hope my mail is still there. I setup an account with Hotmail. Now I have to decide which account to use. It will be nice when I can get to the Internet from home. For the next week I have to go to the school to use it. I went today at about 6 PM but all the rooms were locked.

I finally got my mail from info66.com. Went to one class this morning and talked about radio frequency communications. I think the professor is the head of the electrical engineering program. Hope we won't be too hard on us. Got a web site at www.fortunecity.com with 20 MB of free web space. I don't think they have that damn window that pops up like Geocities has. I've been having a little trouble FTPing there tho. I also had problems trying to put some .class files onto a floppy to make the java applets work. That should be ok now that I found out I get free dial-up internet from the school. Sounds too good to be true. We'll find out tomorrow night. I'm finally getting settled in here. The first two weeks were pretty weird with all the changes. I don't remember this happening when I was stationed here. The BX and Commisary must have helped. It's weird not being able to understand what people around me are saying, nice too.
